The Giraffe Centre is run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) Kenya. It began in the late 1970s as a breeding programme to protect the Rothschild's giraffe, and today it is one of Nairobi's best-loved stops for families and first-time visitors.
From a raised wooden platform you come face to face with the giraffes at feeding time. The centre also runs conservation education for Kenyan schoolchildren, so your visit supports that work.
